Amateur Women’s Basketball Future

In an inspiring move towards inclusivity and community engagement, the Moufflons association is making significant strides in promoting amateur sports for women. This initiative allows women to participate in recreational and yet competitive sports, regardless of their prior experience or retirement status from active play.

“We are thankful to the organizers for providing women a chance to play again even after they have retired from active playing or for those who never played at an organized level who now have a chance to be more active and participate in this kind of competition,” commented Ms. Katerina Tsikkou, captain of the Moufflons’ team. “The courts are always crowded with our children, and families, and it is a very good feeling to have everyone there.”

Moufflons Expand Amateur Teams for 2024/25 Season

The Moufflons’ initiative is set to expand for the upcoming 2024-25 season. We plan to establish amateur teams across three competitions organized by Xeimerino. These include both men’s leagues in Nicosia and Limassol, as well as a women’s team in Nicosia.

The association’s efforts are fostering a sense of community and providing an avenue for physical activity and camaraderie among participants. By opening doors for those who have retired from professional play and those who have never competed at an organized level, the Xeimerino and Moufflons are championing a more inclusive and active sporting culture.
