Utilization of sports in the context of youth work

During its final evaluation, the project “Utilization of Sports in the Context of Youth Work” was recognized as an exemplary initiative by the Cyprus Erasmus+ national agency ONEK, earning the prestigious label of “Good Practice”.

This designation is reserved for projects that demonstrate exceptional management and serve as sources of inspiration for others. Evaluation criteria include the relevance of project objectives and outcomes, project management quality, and project results’ impact and dissemination.

In the realm of youth work, the project centered on harnessing the dynamics of various sports and physical activities for positive impact. Hosted in the serene locale of Agros, the training activity unfolded with a comprehensive approach, delving into individual sports, team sports, and diverse forms of physical activity.

Participants were immersed in an array of perspectives, engaging actively in sports and receiving technical support to enhance their skills. Beyond physical prowess, the project also explored multifaceted areas crucial for holistic development. Topics spanned from coordination and creativity to emotional intelligence, judgment, decision-making, critical thinking, problem-solving, and cognitive flexibility.

Throughout the implementation of the training activity, the focus remained on empowering participants with a diverse skill set and fostering a deeper understanding of the role sports and physical activities play in youth development. The immersive experience aimed to equip participants with invaluable insights and practical tools to effectively engage and support youth in their journey towards personal growth and fulfillment.

The “Utilization of Sports in the Context of Youth Work” project was carried out from January to September 2022 by an international consortium comprising regional public bodies and non-governmental organizations from Cyprus, Germany, North Macedonia, Poland, Serbia, Slovenia and Spain. The Moufflons served as the lead partner and coordinating association.

The Moufflons team, led by the outsourced trainer Mr. Marko Gazivoda and Mr. Nemanja Bjedov, the president of the association, coordinated the development of guidelines for the application of project results and mentored the participants throughout the entire process.

“Participating in pro-bono endeavors brings immense fulfillment to all members of our association, particularly when it concerns youth and individuals committed to nurturing their development to the fullest. Earning the prestigious Good Practice label for our inaugural project is a remarkable achievement for our association. Moving forward, we are determined to expand opportunities for all, including vulnerable groups, individuals facing fewer opportunities, marginalized youth, and anyone else whom we can support,”

remarked Mr. Bjedov in response to the acknowledgment.
